The Tustin Volleyball Club was started by Karen and Mark Roberts in 2008. They decided a long time ago they did not want to spend $3000 per kid and drive on the 5 freeway 2 to 3 times a week at traffic hour.
Both Karen and Mark grew up with a passion for volleyball and wanted to pass that onto their kids. Karen was All-CIF at Laguna Beach HS and played at SDSU on a scholarship. Mark was ALL-CIF at Mira Costa HS and played at UCSB on a scholarship. He played professionally in France for two seasons.
After seeing many of their friend’s kids burn out on volleyball before they even finished high school, Karen and Mark work diligently to keep the sport challenging and always interesting. TVC believes two/three practices a week and 9 to 11 tournaments over the 5 month season is enough to produce skilled volleyball players who pine to get back into the gym.
TVC’s main goal is to provide a solid foundation of fundamentals to enable our players to reach their dreams of becoming accomplished volleyball players. The club strives to provide an environment which promotes and instills such values as self discipline, confidence, responsibility, sportsmanship and team work.
Teams will do sand training at least once a month. Beach volleyball develops well-rounded players who understand all aspects of the game. Outdoor practices help with ball control, balance, stamina and strength. As soon as the indoor club season ends, TVC, with the help of CBVA, goes to the beach.
