Darin McBain
Darin McBain has been playing volleyball for over 20 years and has been coaching for 7 years.His playing career includes:

  • High School
  • 2 years at Orange Coast College where he helped the team to 2nd and 3rd place finishes in the state.  He also      served as team captain and was named an all-league selection.  At the time of his graduation, he was in the top 10 all-time in a number of statistical categories
  • 2 years at Arizona State University where he helped the team to 5th and 9th place finishes in the nation
  • Numerous youth and adult grass, indoor and beach tournaments including two 29th place finishes in AVP events (Huntington, Manhattan)

His coaching career includes:

Mike Ure
I have played volleyball from the time I was in 4th grade all the until after my 10th grade season (basketball was my sport at the time). I was an outside hitter and team captain at Mater Dei in 10th grade. I went to Chico State University for 2 years after high school and played on their club team. I was the starting outside hitter and co-captain both years. I also made 2nd team All-American at the National tournament in Missouri my 2nd year. I coached the “A” team (7th and 8th graders) 2 years for my old junior high school and last spring helped at a Vegas Showcase for high school seniors. I am currently coaching the girls frosh/soph team at Foothill High School and have seen huge improvements in the girls.

About Me
I have played or coached volleyball since I was 11 years old. It is my passion and I have been so blessed to be able to do what I love! I am married to my high school sweetheart, Paul, and have a new baby boy named Ian and a boxer named Daisy. I am currently a stay at home mom and a volleyball coach at Foothill High School.


Mark Roberts
I grew up in Manhattan Beach and started playing volleyball on the beach when I was 5. In middle school, I played before school, at snack, lunch and after school
As a senior at Mira Costa high school, I earned All-CIF and All-Southern California honors. I went to UCSB on an athletic scholarship. I earned All League honors as a sophomore, junior and senior. In 1979, I played on the Junior National team and in 1980-81, I played on the National team. In 1986 and 1987, I played professionally in the south of France in their Division I. I have played in over 100 beach tournaments earning 7th place finishes in various “Open” tournaments.
I have coached for 4 years at TVC, two years at Beckman high school and one year as the head coach at Northwood high school.
